BONNY DOON, California

The Village of Bonny Doon, California is located on Ben Lomond Mountain in northwest Santa Cruz and was originally founded as an 1850's logging community. However, there is evidence that the area was originally occupied by Native Americans, who stayed in the area for 2,600 years.

Recreation
While Bonny Doon has no city center or shops, the area known for its redwood forests, lavender and vineyards, such as Bonny Doon Vineyard and McHenry Vineyard.

While there are many events to enjoy in Bonny Doon, within just a short drive, residents can enjoy many cultural activities. The area is located just a few minutes from the Santa Cruz Circle Trail. Residents enjoy hiking and horseback riding on the Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve, where they can also take part in birding through the Santa Cruz Birding Guide.

Education
Bonny Doon Elementary School, Bonny Doon Community Preschool, and Santa Cruz Waldorf School, a private school.

Did You Know
Bonny Doon was named after a line in a song by Robert Burns called "The Banks O'Doon."

Science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein built a circular house in Bonny Doon, which can be seen on Google Maps on the east side of Bonny Doon Road.
